Z is an Algerian-French political thriller film directed by Costa-Gavras, with a screenplay by Gavras and Jorge Semprún. It’s based on the novel published in 1966 with the same name written by Vassilis Vassilikos. The film presents a thinly fictionalized account of the events surrounding the assassination of the prominent Greek leftist Grigoris Lambrakis in 1963. Following the murder, an investigator tries to uncover the truth while government officials attempt to cover up their roles.
